Guang Laiying, genenral manager of Changzhou Toshiba transformer Co., Ltd declared that "Changzhou Toshiba will develop and produce various kinds of transformer more than 160 piece in 2008, and the total value is over 2.3 billion" on the 11th anniversary of establishment and he also declared that the company will invest 15 million dollars on series of technical transformation projuect.

At present, the rapid development of China's transformer industry was in "the warring states" period. The domestic large enterprises compete with each other while the small-size enterprises conflict with each other. And at the same time, the foreign-funded enterprises are speeding up the expansion in China market.

Guang Laiyingfu told the reporter that Changzhou Toshiba is a large-scale transformer manufacturing base of ultra high voltage and high capacity set up by Toshiba. It first aim was to produce 25 piece of transformer a year, yet the development of Toshiba far exceeded their aim. In 2007 the annual output reached 134 pieces.

He said that the achievements must be with rapid economic development of China and also must be with the support of the local governmnet.

Changzhou is an important manufacturing city in Yangtze Rive Delta region, and the equipment manufacturing industry is its best advantages. And power transmission industry is a very unique and competitive industry among the equipment manufacturing industry.Wang Weicheng said to the reporter that Changzhou will support all the industry development in Changzhou.

The data shouws that the production of Changzhou power transmission and distribution transformer take the 15% of the total transformer production, and ranks the first place in the local regions. 110KV transformer run the first place in the national market share and is the best 500KV transformer producer in the nation.

Xiong Suohua, executive director of Changzhou Electrical Industry Association, said to the reporter that Changzhou Toshiab Transformer has become the leader of power transmission industry, and also promote the development of LV and HV switchgear and wire and cable and other industries as the increased demand of transformer and the increased attention of power industry fron city party committee and government.

Xiong Suohua think that the transformer industry in China has two main directions compared with the advanced international level, one is the direction of high vlotage and ultra high voltage, the other direction is energy saving and combination way. Both the two directions has high requirements of transformer quality. The large scale transformer enterprise in Changzhou has the strong ability of innovation yet other small sized enterprises are of weak innovation ability for their low technical barriers and little independent intellectual property rights.
